Your First Visit to NJ Laser Dentistry

Walking into a new dental office for the first time should feel like a fresh start, not a source of stress. From the moment you arrive, our team is focused on making you feel at ease, informed, and genuinely cared for. Here's what to expect.

What to Bring

  • A valid photo ID
  • Your insurance card, if applicable
  • A list of any current medications or supplements
  • Any recent dental X-rays, if you have them available
  • Your completed new patient forms, if sent to you in advance

When You Arrive

Our front desk team will greet you, verify your information, and get you settled. If you haven't completed your new patient paperwork in advance, we'll give you a few minutes to do that before your appointment begins.

Our waiting area is designed to feel comfortable and unhurried. If you have any questions before you're called back, our team is happy to help.

Sedation Options

For patients who experience dental anxiety, we offer several options to make your visit as comfortable as possible:

  • Relaxation options are available to help ease anxiety during your appointment so you can feel calm and comfortable from start to finish
  • Oral sedation is available for patients who need a deeper level of comfort during more involved procedures

We discuss your options before every appointment so you walk in feeling confident and prepared, never caught off guard.

In the Chair

Once you're with your provider, we'll take a full set of digital X-rays and conduct a comprehensive exam. This includes:

  • A full oral health evaluation
  • Digital X-rays to assess what's happening below the surface
  • An oral cancer screening
  • A periodontal assessment to check the health of your gums
  • A professional cleaning to remove buildup and leave your teeth polished

This is also your time to talk. If you have concerns, areas of discomfort, or treatments you've been curious about, bring them up. We're listening.

Treatment Planning

If your exam reveals anything that needs attention, your provider will walk you through the findings in plain language before any decisions are made. You'll understand exactly what's going on, what your options are, and what we recommend every step of the way.

Depending on what your exam shows, your treatment plan may include:

  • Restorative care, such as fillings, crowns, or root canals to address decay or damage
  • Periodontal treatment if your gum assessment shows signs of gum disease
  • Orthodontic options if alignment is a concern, from Invisalign to traditional braces
  • Implant solutions for any missing teeth, with complimentary consultations available
  • Cosmetic treatment such as veneers, whitening, or a full smile makeover, also with a complimentary consultation

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Nothing moves forward without your full understanding and approval
  • We prioritize urgent needs first and help you plan additional treatment at a pace that works for you
  • If cost or timing is a concern, we'll work with you on a sequenced plan and discuss financing options through CareCredit
  • Our goal is to give you a clear, honest picture of your oral health so you can make informed decisions with confidence
