Root Canal Treatment in Tinton Falls

At NJ Laser Dentistry, we understand that root canal treatment has a bad reputation. But you have nothing to be afraid of. Our friendly and professional team offers root canal treatment to treat and restore infected teeth and help you feel better. We will work to make your experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible with sedation dentistry options.

What is Root Canal Treatment?

The root canal is a chamber inside the center of the tooth. The dental pulp is the soft tissue inside the root canal. Your tooth’s nerves, blood vessels and other sensitive tissues are found inside the canal. When your tooth’s nerve or pulp are damaged due to injury or severe decay, the tissue breaks down and becomes infected by the resulting bacteria. This is a very painful condition, and if it is left untreated, it can lead to tooth loss.

Do I Need Root Canal Treatment?

Your tooth root can develop an abscess, which occurs when a pus-filled pocket grows at the roots of your tooth and spreads into the surrounding tissue. This abscess can cause severe toothache, swelling in the face, jaw or neck, bone loss around the infected area, and pus drainage through the tissues of your gums.

If you experience any of these symptoms, call our office to schedule an appointment. We offer same-day emergency appointments, and we will do our best to see you as soon as possible.

How is Root Canal Treatment Performed?

Root canal treatment usually takes one to two visits to complete. First, we will examine you and take X-rays to assess the condition of your tooth. Once we locate the infection, we will prepare you for treatment. We will administer local anesthesia to numb the tooth.

Depending on your needs, we can also recommend laughing gas for your comfort.

Next, our dentist will drill a tiny access hole in the top of your tooth to remove the pulp, bacteria and decayed nerve tissue. We will thoroughly clean the interior of your tooth to clear the infection. Once your tooth is cleaned, it will be dried and sealed. In most cases, a crown will then be used to restore the strength, function and look of your tooth, allowing you to resume your normal eating and dental care habits.

Does Root Canal Treatment Hurt?

No procedure is completely pain-free, but with appropriate anesthesia, we will ensure your experience is as relaxed and comfortable as possible. Best of all, this treatment will relieve your tooth pain that is caused by infection.
