Crowns & Bridges

We’re tough on our teeth and it can show in our smiles.  When you have cracked, decayed, damaged or chipped teeth, or very large restorations, you don’t look as good as you should—and you’re probably not biting or chewing properly either.  You could even end up losing teeth.

To strengthen a damaged tooth and to restore the beauty of your smile, Dr. Bilow may recommend a crown. A crown is a permanent covering that fits snugly over the original tooth, providing it strength, durability and natural beauty. Crowns can be made of precious metal, porcelain fused to metal and all porcelain.  Because they look natural, they may be used to whiten, reshape, and realign your existing teeth to create a healthy and vibrant smile.

If you have lost or missing teeth, Dr. Bilow can often fill the gap with a bridge—an artificial tooth or teeth placed secured in a dental appliance and anchored to crowns placed on the neighboring teeth. Because it keeps other teeth from shifting around in the mouth, a bridge can help prevent bite and jaw (TMJ) problems.
