Invisalign

invisalignFDA approved Invisalign® is the “invisible” way to straighten your teeth without wearing conventional metal braces. Invisalign® uses a series of clear, removable, custom-made aligners to move your teeth. Because you remove your aligners before you eat and drink, there are no food restrictions or problems with flossing or brushing. This technology is also more comfortable, avoiding the mouth abrasions that can be caused by the metal and wires of conventional braces. And this technology is also more convenient, since you are likely to spend less time in our office getting adjustments.

Invisalign® uses 3-D computer imaging technology to design the complete treatment plan, from the initial teeth positioning to the desired final positioning. This 3-D imaging allows you to preview the final positioning of your teeth before you start treatment.  Custom-made aligners are created based on the imaging information. Each of these aligners moves your teeth incrementally and is worn for about 2 weeks.  Typically, you will visit Dr. Bilow once every 6 weeks for “progress reports.”   Not every situation can be treated with Invisalign, so call the office to get an evaluation to see if you can be helped with this new technology.

The Latest Technology Makes It Possible

Upon an initial examination, Dr. Bilow will decide if Invisalign® is right for you. He will write up a treatment plan and take an impression of your teeth, which is then submitted to Invisalign®.  Using the latest advances in 3-D computer technology, Invisalign® translates Dr. Bilow’s instructions into a series of nearly undetectable aligners. You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, moving your teeth gradually, week by week, millimeter by millimeter until you’ve achieved the desired result.

Invisalign® – Frequently Asked Questions

How does Invisalign® work?

Using the latest advances in 3-D computer technology, Invisalign® translates Dr. Bilow’s instructions into a series of nearly undetectable aligners. You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, moving your teeth gradually, week by week, millimeter by millimeter until you’ve achieved the desired result.

Is Invisalign® effective?

Thousands of doctors are treating patients with Invisalign®. It works for a wide range of people whose teeth are too crowded or have spaces between them, as well as for those whose teeth may have shifted after having worn braces in their youth.

How often will I have to wear my aligners?

Invisalign® only works while you are wearing the aligners. It’s recommended that you wear your aligners full-time, day and night, except to eat, brush, and floss your teeth.

How long does Invisalign® take?

The duration of your treatment depends on the severity of your case and the number of aligners you need. The average is about twelve months. Dr. Bilow ’s average time for lingual braces is six months.

How much does Invisalign® cost?

The fee for Invisalign® is comparable to Dr. DePaul’s lingual and regular braces.

What if I am not a candidate for Invisalign®?

If you are not a candidate for Invisalign®, you may still be a candidate for lingual Braces. Both Invisalign® and lingual braces allow you to have the smile you always wanted and no one will know you are straightening your teeth.
